Biman Bangladesh Airlines, national flag carrier in the country, failed to resolve audit complaints of Tk 22,00 crore in last 40 years since independence.
The Biman authorities came up with the disclosure at the 65th meeting of parliamentary standing committee on public institution Thursday.
Meeting source said the JS body expressed their resentment over the issue and recommended for quick disposal of the audit objection.
Meanwhile, the entire Biman Board, including its chairman was asked to appear before the JS body at its next meeting.
Earlier, the parliamentary committee on civil aviation and tourism also asked the Biman board to appear before its next meeting.
As per Biman report, the total number of Biman’s audit objection is 6,060 from 1972 to 2006 while the number of audit objection is 942 from 2006 to 2011.
Of them, some 319 were resolved.
The committee also recommended starting a performance audit in a bid to make the government organization dynamic.
With chairman of the committee ABM Golam Mostafa in the chair, the meeting was also attended, among others, by Dr TIM Fazle Rabbi Chowdhury, Khan Tipu Sultan, SK Abu Baker, Moin Uddin Khan Badal, Bajlul Haque Harun and Amina Ahmed.
