DHAKA: The government is going to hike bulk and retail power price again by 55 percent to meet up continuous loss in this sector.

Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC), Dhaka Electric Supply Company (DESCO) and West-Zone Power Distribution Company (WZPDC) submitted a proposal to Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) in this regard Sunday.

Besides, Power Distribution Board (PDB) and Rural Electric Board (REB) will submit their proposals within two days, sources said.

A BERC source said, on June 6, PDB submitted a proposal to increase bulk power price by 50 percent and then BERC took decision to hike both bulk and retail power price to meet up the loss.
