2.35 cr textbooks being printed in East West Media Group Ltd press,Bangladesh

DHAKA:  The press of East West Media Group Ltd is printing a total of 2,35,26,483 textbooks of National Curriculum and Textbook Board this year.

EWMG won the bid through an international tender and singed deal with NCTB for printing the book. The printing work is underway in full pace, officials of EWMG said.

The books will be distributed in districts and upazilas after completing the printing works within 98 days, they added.

Perfect Binding Machine, Muller Martini Auto Binding, and three knives system were added at press unit of the EWMGL in a bid to supply the books in time.

Editor of Daily Kaler Kantha Emdadul Haque Milon,and East West Media Group Adviser Md Abu Tayeb paid a visit press to see the progress on Sunday night.

EWMGL press unit chief Lt. Colonel (retd) Mohammad Abdul Awal BPPSC, Senior GM (Press) Abdul Awal, AGM (press) Golam Mostafa and other officials were present.

Deposition against Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary general Kamaruzzaman August 28,Bangladesh

DHAKA: The International Crime Tribunal -2 (ICT) on Monday fixed Aug 28 for hearing the deposition of fifth witness against Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary general Kamaruzzaman, an accused of wartime crimes against humanity during liberation war in 1971.

A three-member tribunal led by Justice ATM Fazle Karim reified the date in response to a prosecution plea as the witness was absent in the court.

Earlier, a total of four prosecution witnesses gave their deposition against Kamzruzzamn and were cross-examined by defense lawyer till date.

Earlier on June 4, the International Crime Tribunal-2 framed charges against Mohammad Kamaruzzaman and fixed July 2 for giving ‘opening statement’ against the Jamaat leader.

The three-member tribunal-2 passed the order on basis of seven charges including killing, mass killing, torture, forced exile.

Earlier on May 20 prosecution concluded hearing against Kamaruzzaman while defense lawyers on May 16.

Earlier on May 8, prosecutor AKM Saiful Islam read out the charge sheet against the Jamaat man before the court.

On January 31, the tribunal took into cognizance the formal charges against the Jamaat leader in presence of him.

On December 28 last, the ICT returned to the prosecution the charges of crimes against humanity brought against Muhammad Kamaruzzaman terming it ‘scattered and irrelevant’.

The charges cited nine allegations against Kamaruzzaman for his alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during the war.

On January 15, prosecutors resubmitted formal charges against detained Jamaat leader Kamaruzzaman.
