DHAKA: Quarter Master General (QMG) Lieutenant General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan is taking charge as the new chief of Bangladesh Army, succeeding Gen Abdul Mubin.
General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan will take his office on June 25 and the incumbent army chief Gen Abdul Mubin will retire on the day.
General Mubin assumed the office of the Chief of the Army Staff, Bangladesh Army on June 15, 2009.
Lt Gen Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan served as a UN Force Commander and held important commanding positions including the GOC of the Savar-based 9th Infantry Division and the Chief of General Staff.
He also headed the Defense Services Command and Staff College.
Assistant Director of Inter-Service Public Relation Rezaul Karim Shammy confirmed the matter to banglanews Sunday.
