Suranjit Sengupta for national unity to solve Padma bridge crisis,Bangladesh

Suranjit Sengupta, minister without portfolio, has hoped that the prime minister will call for national unity following the cancellation of World Bank funding for the Padma bridge project.

“The country is now facing national and international conspiracy. I wish our prime minister will invite all political parties for a national dialogue in her concluding speech on Jatiya Sangsad”, Suranjit said while speaking at a discussion meeting on Friday at Public Library auditorium in the capital.

Suranjit on April 16 resigned as the railways minister in the face of railwaygate scandal and just a day after he was made minister without portfolio.

World Bank on June 30, cancelled its $1.2 billion credit for the Padma bridge project with, saying it has proof of corruption conspiracy involving Bangladeshi officials, executives of a Canadian firm and individuals.
