Jamaat-e-Islami central leader and chairman of Diganta Media Corporation Mir Kashem Ali : granted division in jail,Bangladesh

The International Crime tribunal-1 (ICT) on Sunday issued division status to detained Jamaat-e-Islami central leader and chairman of Diganta Media Corporation Mir Kashem Ali.

Two-member tribunal led by Justice Nizamul Haque passed the order as Mir Kashem Ali, who is now in jail over allegation of committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War, as he sought division in jail.

Earlier on Jul 19, Mir Kashem Ali filed a petition with the tribunal seeking division status in jail.

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 fixed Sunday to pass an order on Mir Kashem Ali’s division petition on the same day.

Earlier on June 17, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Mir Kashem around 4:45pm just an hour after the International Crimes Tribunal-1 issued an arrest warrant against the Jamaat leader.

Mir Kashem Ali, central leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and chairman of Diganta Media Corporation, was arrested for his alleged involvement in crimes against humanity in 1971.
