Bus runs over Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) girl's legs,

A student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) was critically injured as a bus ran over her legs in the city’s National Press Club area Sunday.

The injured Shamima Nasrin, 24, is a third semester student of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) department.

Both of the legs of the victim received serious injuries in the accident while her left leg was about to be amputated, DMCH sources said.

Witnesses said Shamima slipped from a bus of Raza City Paribahan when she was trying to get down from it and the bus ran over her legs around 4:15pm.

Critically injured Shamima was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors sent her to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor).

Angry locals ransacked the bus after the accident.

Humayun Kabir, sub-inspector of Shahbagh Police Station, detained the driver, Faruque Hossain, and helper, Rubel.
