The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 fixed Sunday to pass an order on Mir Kashem Ali’s division petition.

A three-member tribunal led by Justice Nizamul Haq Thursday heard an application of Mir Kashem Ali, who is now in jail over allegation of committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War, as he sought division in jail.

Mir Kashem’s counsel Barrister Abdur Razzak sought division for his client on the ground of his social status, educational background and political responsibilities.

Prosecutor Zead-Al-Malum took part in the hearing on behalf of the government.

Earlier on June 17, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Mir Kashem around 4:45pm just an hour after the International Crimes Tribunal-1 issued an arrest warrant against the Jamaat leader.

Mir Kashem Ali, central leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and chairman of Diganta Media Corporation, was arrested for his alleged involvement in crimes against humanity in 1971.
