US to help Bangladesh prevent human trafficking: US Ambassador Mozena

DHAKA : US Ambassador to Dhaka Dan W Mozena Saturday said the US government would help Bangladesh to prevent human trafficking.

The US envoy came up with the observation while addressing a programme on human trafficking held at a city hotel.

Mentioning the trafficking incident of girl named Sonali, he added the national plan made for 2012-14 by the government is enough to prevent human trafficking.

In the function, later, home minister Advocate Sahara Khatun announced the introduction of national plan to prevent human trafficking.

The programme was also addressed, among others, by Labour, Overseas Employment and Expatriate Welfare Minister Engineer Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Foreign Minister Dipu Moni, Inspector General Hasan Mahmud Khandaker and foreign secretary Mizarul Kayes.

Additional secretary of Home Ministry Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed presented the keynote at the programme.
