Finance Minister AMA Muhith proposed Tk 1,91,738 crore budget outlays for fiscal 2012-13 in the Parliament Thursday evening amid boycott of the main opposition BNP.
The minister began placing the multimedia presentation of the budget around 3:25pm.
The revenue target of the budget has been set at Tk 1,39,670 crore while the deficit in the budget would be Tk 52,068 crore.
Preparation of budget for the upcoming fiscal was a big challenge amid the global financial context, the finance minister said at the beginning of his budget speech.
Earlier in the afternoon, the cabinet at its special meeting approved the budget.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the meeting at the parliament complex.
