Tax evasion charges were framed in absentia against Arafat Rahman Koko, younger son of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, on Thursday.
Judge Mohammad Zahirul Haque of the Senior Special Judge's Court of Dhaka fixed November 1 to start trial of the case.
The
National Board of Revenue (NBR) filed the case on March 1, 2010
accusing Koko of dodging taxes on his Tk 52.39 lakh income for fiscal
years 2002-03 to 2006-07.
Koko repeatedly provided false information about his actual income and expenditure, alleged the NBR statement.
On
June 23 last year, another Dhaka court sentenced Koko to six years'
rigorous imprisonment for laundering over Tk 20 crore to Singapore.
