10 JCD men hurt in BCL attack at Rajshahi University,Bangladesh

At least 10 activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) were injured in an attack by some Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men at Rajshahi University on Tuesday.

Enraged at the attack, JCD activists vandalised five vehicles on the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway, officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station.

The OC said a group of BCL men suddenly attacked the JCD activists when they were preparing to bring out a procession at the main gate of the university around 11:00am celebrating the fourth jail-release day of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

RU unit JCD convenor Arafat Reza Ashiq, one joint-convenor Delwar Hossain and another activist Papon Ahmed were fatally injured during the attack, OC Anisur said.

They were rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, he added.

The OC confirmed the situation returned to normalcy after deployment of law enforcers.

The incident occurred a day after 10 JCD leaders sustained injuries in an attack by BCL activists at Dhaka University on Monday.
