Main opposition BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia Monday congratulated Pranab Mukherjee on his becoming the President of India.
UPA nominee Pranab Mukherjee became the 13th President of India defeating opposition-backed PA Sangma.
In a felicitation message, Khaleda said: “On behalf of the people of Bangladesh, my party and on my behalf, I congratulate the newly elected president of India.”
“The Bengalee nation is proud of his taking position in the highest post of India,” Khaleda said.
BNP chairperson expressed hope that the bilateral ties between the two countries would be cemented further.
Khaleda’s Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan confirmed.
