The cabinet on Monday approved the draft of the Hindu Marriage Registration Act, 2012, keeping marriage registration scope for the people of the community.
However, the registration of marriage would be optional, not mandatory, Cabinet Secretary Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told journalists.
The approval came at a weekly cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Bangladesh Secretariat.
