Bangladesh women's cricket team:Tigresses stun Proteas

Bangladesh women's cricket team beat South Africa by seven wickets in the first match in Dhaka on Tuesday to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20 series.

Reduced by 7 over in the second inning due to rain, Bangladesh was set 73 in 13 overs to win the match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

The Bangladeshi women cricketers reached their target losing three wickets with 5 balls remaining.

Earlier, South Africa scored 106 run in the first innings in the stipulated 20 overs.

Bangladesh will play the second T20 against their South African counterpart on September 12 and play the last T20 on September 14, both at the same venue.

Earlier, the South African women's cricket team clinched the three-match ODI series by 2-1 stunning Bangladesh by seven wickets in the series-deciding third and final match at the same venue on Sunday.



The host side took lead beating South African by two wickets in the first ODI but the touring side bounced back in the series with a four wickets victory over Bangladesh in the second ODI.

The South African women's cricket team arrived in Dhaka on September 4 to play three one-day internationals and as many T20 internationals against their Bangladesh counterparts as part of their preparation for the ICC Women's World Twenty20 to be held in Sri Lanka later this month.
