Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said in parliament that the process was underway to begin a joint study to assess the possible impact of Tipaimukh Dam on Bangladesh.
“Bangladesh government has already formed its team and informed it to the government of India,” she said replying to a lawmaker’s queries.
Following negotiations held at different levels, the premier said Indian government has agreed to conduct the joint study on the possible impact of the proposed dam on Bangladesh.
On signing the much-talked-about treaty on Teesta water sharing with India, Hasina said her government was determined to implement the treaty.
“This government is actively working to this effect,” The PM said.
