DHAKA: Noted economist Professor Anu Muhammad categorically said that the countrymen would never accept the US force in the Bay of Bengal as well as alien control over the country`s assets.
“The deal with American company Conocophilips for petroleum exploration in the Bay of Bengal is a threat to the sea and its resources,” he added.
He came up with the observation while addressing a day long workshop arranged by the National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports at conference room of Cox’s Bazar Cultural Center Saturday.
Anu Muhammad said, “The countrymen are still being oppressed, cheated and tortured by local and foreign oppressors although the country became independent through liberation war.”
With Advocate Abul Kalam Azad in the chair, the workshop was addressed, among others, by district communist party president Comrade Dilip Das, general secretary Anil Datta and district Chhatra Union president Shahidullah Shahid.
