DHAKA: The National Economic Council (NEC) Saturday approved a Tk 55,000 crore Annual Development Programme (ADP) in national upcoming budge for the fiscal year 2012-13.
The NEC also approved Tk 3,000 crore for the construction of much-talked-about Padma Bridge.
The approval came from a meeting of the NEC held NEC building at Sher-E-Bangla Nagar in the city council with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Of the amount, Tk 31,450 crore will come from the government’s own resources and the rest from external resources.
After the meeting, secretary (in-charge) of the planning ministry Bhuiyan Shafiqul Islam made the disclosure while talking to journalists.
He told the journalists that Tk 3,000 crore has been allocated for the construction of the Padma Bridge in the ADP.
The planning secretary also told the journalists, in the current fiscal year, the budget support from the development partners has been cut almost by half.
The ministry has estimated the support at Tk 2,050 crore for the next fiscal year, he added.
