A photojournalist was killed as a speedy bus hit a rickshaw from behind near Ruposhi Bangla Hotel in the capital Friday afternoon.
The victim is Shahiduzzaman, 38, a photojournalist of daily Matobad, a local newspaper in Barisal, Shah Alam, officer-in-charge of Ramna Police Station, said.
Jannatul Ferdous Sohel, a friend of Shahiduzzaman, who was also riding the rickshaw, and rickshaw puller Altaf sustained minor injuries.
The accident occurred while a Sadarghat-bound bus of United paribahan hit their rickshaw from behind near Ruposhi Bangla Hotel around 1:30pm, leaving Shahiduzzaman dead on the spot and injuring two others, the OC said quoting Sohel.
Police seized the vehicle right away and arrested driver Naimul Islam. 40.
The body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
