Opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farroque urged the government on Thursday to withdraw all the 'false cases' against BNP leaders and activists including five lawmakers over hartal violence and release them before the start of next parliament session on May 27.
The BNP leader made the appeal while addressing a human chain on the premises of the parliament at about 10:30am.
At least 18 opposition lawmakers took part in the human chain formed demanding release of the leaders and activists of BNP-led 18-party alliance arrested during the recent hartals.
The chief whip said the speaker was not acting impartially as he did not inquire about five BNP lawmakers, who are in jail in connection with the cases filed for hartal violence.
